CE Requirements:
Practitioner Continuing Education
8 hours of continuing education are required to renew or reactivate an operator or salon manager license:
4-hour Core continuing education course.
This course must consist of 1 hour of laws and rules; AND
3 hours of health, safety, and infection control standards.4-hour Professional Practice continuing education course.
This course may be based on any or all of the following:product chemistry and chemistry interaction;
proper use of machines and instruments;
business management and human relations; OR
techniques relevant to the type of license held.
CE Requirements:
Cosmetologist
8 hours of continuing education are required to renew by 12/31 of even years
CE Requirements Sec. 1602.354.
(a) The commission will by rule recognize, prepare, or administer continuing education programs for the practice of cosmetology. Participation in the programs is mandatory for all license renewals.
(b) The commission may only require a license holder to complete continuing education of not more than four hours in health and safety courses if the license holder:
(1) is at least 65 years of age; and
(2) has held a cosmetology license for at least 15 years.
(c) The commission shall require continuing education programs under this chapter to include information on:
(1) activities commonly associated with human trafficking;
(2) recognition of potential victims of human trafficking; and
(3) methods for assisting victims of human trafficking, including how to report human trafficking.
