Practitioner Preparedness
Prior to Arriving at the Salon
Client should arrive with:
• shampooed hair
• clean clothing, no open-toed shoes
• should remain outside salon until stylist is ready to begin service
• (HH) wash hands or use 70% alcohol-based hand sanitizer upon entrance to the salon
• pre-pay or use touchless payment methods
• only bring necessities along to appointment
• do not bring with to appointment: books, magazines, iPads, computers
• limit other stops prior to arrival to salon
• completed health pre-screening
Stylists should arrive with:
• shampooed hair
• clean clothing (towel car seat), no open-toed shoes
• hair clipped back and/or covered
• (HH) wash hands and under fingernails upon arrival and entrance to salon/building
• limit other stops prior to arrival to salon
• completed health screening
• leave all non-essential items at home
Prior to Performing the Service
• Limit people in the salon and spa. Consider seeing clients by appointment only. Consider telephonic or online scheduling. Limit the number of persons coming in and out.
• Maintain social distancing at all times! Spacing between persons in the salon should be at least six feet, except when staff are servicing clients. Salons and spas should consider additional spacing between booths, divider shields, and/or alternate work schedules to accomplish this.
• Change out air filters and clean air ducts regularly to help improve air quality
• All salons should be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected prior to any services
• Complete client health screening
• Stylist should wear smock, client should wear neck strip and cape
• Stylist and client should wear face mask
Before Leaving the Salon
Clean and disinfect all tools, work station surfaces, reception area, bathrooms, break room, etc. following the above measures
Remove and launder stylist gowns/robe
Dispose of any non-reusable face masks, disinfect or launder any face shields or cloth face masks
Keep hair pulled back until arriving home
Limit stops prior to returning home
